A BUZZARD found hours from death was finally released after being nursed back to health.
The six-month-old buzzard flew back into the wild following rehabilitation by the Welsh Owl and Bird Sanctuary, in Treowen.
A walker found him lying on a path on Cwmcarn Scenic Drive three weeks ago.
The bird was emaciated and suffering from exhaustion.
Bird expert Dave Cooksey, from the sanctuary, said the young buzzard would have hatched in the spring.
He said: "What sometimes happens is one is perhaps a little smaller and gets less to eat. He would have got left behind when the rest flew off."
