A GWENT woman's dream of a fairytale white wedding was shattered after her 42-year-old partner died suddenly of a suspected heart attack.

Leanne Perryman had talked about venues for her big day and even bought her wedding shoes.

Her 12-year-old son, Kelston, discovered partner Steven Sade's body in the living room at Monnow Way, Bettws, Newport, the morning after the father-of-three suffered a panic attack during the night.

"He woke up in the middle of the night and went downstairs," said Miss Perryman. "The boys' alarm went off and Kelston went downstairs. "He came running up saying something was wrong with Steve.

"As soon as I went through the door I knew he was gone. "It's so devastating because he was so young and strong. We talked about getting married for years and were planning on finally doing it next year.

"I wanted everything - the whole white thing and the children as bridesmaids but now that dream has gone."

Miss Perryman, 30, who has two children from a previous relationship and a son, Ryan, four, with Mr Sade, will bury her three engagement rings with him.

"He proposed three times because that's what he was like," she said. "He was quite old fashioned and used to get down on one knee. He was also a prankster and my soulmate."

Mr Sade, who died on March 31, grew up in Pill and attended Duffryn High School before working as a sprayer for Rowecord Engineering in Newport.

He was an amateur boxer in his younger days, training at St Joseph's boxing club.

Shortly before his death he was planning to start his own business spraying gates and railings.

Mr Sade, who had three brothers and three sisters and three children from previous relationships, met Ms Perryman in 1998 during a night out in the city.

His brother Ramsey Mockbill, 36, of Caerleon, said: "He was one in a million and we will always be thinking about him."

Mr Sade's son Steven, 22, said: "I'm going to miss him so much. "He was deeply respected and will always be my father and my model for life."
