TWO sisters from Cwmbran say they are "afraid to leave the house" after becoming the victims of a gang of aggressive youths.

Twins Sarah and Sam Hall, 24, have endured constant verbal abuse and threats for the past two months.

They say a gang of up to 15 youths - some as young as ten - gather outside their house in St Dials.

Their living room window was smashed and last month Sarah's car was damaged so badly it was written off by their insurance company.

The sisters say they are not the only residents in The Crescent, St Dials, to suffer and want other people living in the street to speak out. Sam said: "I think the other residents are scared of what might happen if they speak out.

"We want it to stop. We think it will help if more people complain." Sarah, who has two children, Charlotte, three and Eleanor, two, said: "We can't even walk out the front door without them abusing us.

"They're not going to stop, they're going to keep on unless we try to do something. We're not putting up with it anymore."

Sarah said her two daughters are scared by the gang's behaviour. "They can tell something is wrong and are frightened by it."

Sam has now moved out of the house.

She said: "I moved in with other family members, because I hated living there so much.

"We have both been very badly affected by the abuse. It affects our work and has a depressing effect."

Sam said: "We moved in last October and it has been a problem since then, but for some reason they have really targeted us for the last two months."

Sam also had a pint of milk thrown at her car as she drove into the street. She said: "The only thing the police say they can do anything about is the damaged car.

"Otherwise, it seems we have to wait until one of us is injured."
