Business adviser KPMG has been named the 2006 Best Big Company to Work For, according to a survey published in the Sunday Times.

The firm, which employs more than 100 staff at its Cardiff office, was highlighted as one of the UK's top employers in the annual publication, which is part of its 100 Best Companies to Work For programme of research into employee satisfaction.

It is widely recognised as an annual roll call of the best employers in the UK and has been produced by the Sunday Times since 2000, this year incorporating the views of more than 86,000 people.

Alun Bowen, senior partner for KPMG in Wales, said: "This news is a tribute to the behaviour and hard work of all our people in making KPMG an excellent place to work. "Our business is very competitive and our people are the main point of difference between us and our competitors, meaning a happy, motivated team is crucial to our success both now and as we grow in the future. "KPMG in Wales is pleased to be joining Admiral and Firstplus who contributed to a strong Welsh showing in the Sunday Times awards."

The award is the latest in a series of successes for KPMG, which employs more than 10,000 staff in 22 offices across the UK.

The firm's annual results to year ended September 2005 saw pre-tax profits rise to £307m with a bonus pool of £58m divided among staff.
