A GWENT resident could be nearly £200,000 richer than they think after a winning lottery ticket was bought in Torfaen.

But the winning ticket - bought on June 3 - remains unclaimed and now the National Lottery is urging players in Torfaen and surrounding area to check their tickets to see if they are the winner of the £189,610 prize.

The unclaimed prize continues Gwent's winning streak, with several local residents scooping big sums in recent years.

Newbridge carpenter Peter Hayward won £250,000 on a scatchcard in June, Joanne Gilbert, a laundry assistant from Abertillery scooped £1.4 million in April last year and just a month later 70-year-old Eileen Jones of Nantyglo won £250,000.

But former miners John Stinchcombe and John Ackerman, who have been close friends for 40 years shared a massive £11.4 million when they won in July 2007.

The winning ticket purchased in Torfaen County Borough matched five numbers and the bonus ball in the Lotto draw on June 3.

The winning numbers were four, six, 22, 31, 33, 35 and the bonus ball was three.

All winners have 180 days to claim their prize and the Torfaen winner only has until 5.30pm on November 30 to come forward.

Anyone who believes they hold the winning ticket can call the National Lottery Line on 0845 910 0000.

If the prize isn't claimed in time, all the money and the interest it has generated will be donated to the Good Causes by The National Lottery.

A lottery spokesman said: "We're desperate to find this missing ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings. We have the champagne on ice, our fingers crossed and fireworks on hand to help the ticket holder celebrate should they come forward to claim their prize."
