A SINGER-SONGWRITER from Newport won support for his debut album from Terry Wogan’s Radio 2 team.

Mark Ruebery, who is in his late 20s, had his debut album “Because of You” praised by Terry Wogan’s producer Alan Boyd, and his management is currently talking with the new Chris Evans team to get his new single “Something Opens Windows” on the play list when Mr Evans takes over the breakfast show in January.

The good new comes in the week before Mr Ruebery’s first television commercial for the album is played out on ITV this weekend.

The first in a series of 30 second-adverts featuring the Newport singer will appear on the small screen this Saturday and Sunday.

Mr Ruebery, who is currently writing new material in preparation for four January gigs in Los Angeles, said: “It’s been a lot of hard work so it’s really encouraging to have the support of people like Alan. I just can’t wait to get recording again. The next year should be great.”
