IT'S do or die against French kings Toulouse in tomorrow night's Rodney Parade Heineken Cup clash, admits Newport captain Simon Raiwalui.

Newport have lost all seven Celtic League and Heineken Cup games this season, and everyone is well aware one more defeat really would be a disaster.

Faced with that reality, Raiwalui warns that Newport must go for it from the first whistle.

"It's do-or-die and we mustn't leave anything behind for this one," said Raiwalui.

"We've got to come out and really go for it. We've got to get stuck in. People can expect a pumped up Newport team on Friday night.

"Toulouse are a fabulous team with some great players, but they can be put off their game if we get stuck in."

Raiwalui insists the game is all about performance from a Newport perspective and says this season's record has to be cast to one side.

He has every respect for the French team and their stars, but tomorrow more than ever the skipper is adamant it is about Newport getting their own performance right.

"We are not worried about who we're playing against, there's no point in looking back, it's all about our performance," he said.

Raiwalui has reported fit for the game after a bout of 'flu, and so has fellow lock Mike Voyle, who has had a gastric problem.

Both trained with the squad at a special session last night, which means the front five is unchanged.

But there are changes in the back row where Andrew Powell and Steve Ojomoh return.

The big surprise is the choice of Matt Pini on one wing. All his previous appearances have been in the full back position.

But with Andrew Wagstaff ruled out by a knee injury, Hal Luscombe only just easing his way back to fitness and neither Nathan Palmer nor Alex Cadwallader in the Heineken squad, Pini is switched to the flank.

That is the only change in the back division, Matt Mostyn continuing at outside centre. Team: S Howarth, M Pini, M Mostyn, A Marinos, L Nabaro, J Strange, O Tonu'u, R Snow, J Richards, C Anthony, S Raiwalui (captain), M Voyle, S Ojomoh, A Powell, J Forster. Replacements: H Luscombe, S Williams, D Burn, C Jones, P Young, M Veater, J Powell. Kick-off 7.30pm.

* Newport scrum half Ofisa Tonu'u has had a second attempt to play international rugby for Samoa turned down by the International Rugby Board.

He had argued he was a special case and should not be included in the new eligibility ruling introduced in January 2000, though his last cap was for New Zealand.

Meanwhile, only Mike Voyle and Rod Snow are still holding out after most of the Newport team pledged not to shave until they won.
