BUDDING young chefs from all corners of Monmouthshire donned their aprons to to head to head in a cooking competition.
Four teams from Caldicot, Abergavenny, Chepstow and Monmouth youth clubs took part in a ‘Come Dine With Me’ style competition in which they had to cook a meal in front of a judging panel in one hour.
The event, organised by Monmouthshire Youth Service and funded by Monmouthshire Health Alliance, took place at Abergavenny Youth Centre after weeks of preparation.
Monmouthshire council staff members Mike Moran, Angela Price and Amanda Peters together with Cllr Liz Hacket-Pain made up the judging panel.
The winning team were Shane Robertson, Chris Seale and Charlotte Griffiths from the The Zone in Caldicot who impressed judges with their pan-seared lemon sole, balloon of chicken and hot chocolate fondant.
Cllr Hacket Pain said: "It was a pleasure to see how much culinary talent we have in Monmouthshire."
Caldicot and second-place Abergavenny team members will be cooking Christmas-themed dishes in Abergavenny Market Hall in December.
