A GWENT police constable died after collapsing on a cricket pitch.
PC Hywel Evans, 43, was bowling for Blackwood Town Cricket Club Seconds on Saturday when he suddenly fell to the ground.
First aiders rushed to help him as his shocked team-mates looked on and an ambulance was called.
But despite being rushed to Newport's Royal Gwent Hospital, PC Evans, from Blackwood, died.
