A PONTYPOOL man appeared in court charged with assaulting a police officer and dangerous driving after an incident in Shirenewton last Thursday.
Jonathan Lee Harris, 38, of Orchard Close, Trevethin, is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm on PC Christopher McGowan, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, a Landrover Discovery, at Coed-y-Paen and possessing the Class A drug heroin.
Harris and Craig Sharpe, 40, of Hardy Court, George Street, Pontnewynydd, Pontypool, appeared at Caerphilly Magistrates' Court on Saturday jointly charged with the burglary of Red Barn Farm, Shirenewton, stealing a laptop computer, money tin and two wallets.
They are also both charged with attempted burglary, at a workshop at Broadwell Farm, Mathern.
Both men were also charged with going equipped for burglary, that they had articles for use in the course of, or in connection with burglary, bolt croppers, a screwdriver, a hammer and axes.
Chairman of the bench Brian Butt remanded both men in custody to reappear at Caerphilly Magistrates' Court on March 10, for a second hearing.
