A NEWPORT man, who spent more than a year in prison for abusing a young girl and photographing her in her underwear, is back in custody after breaching a sexual offences prevention order.

Christopher Stone, 53, of Thornbury Park, Rogerstone, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court after admitting the breach.

Stone was sentenced to 30 months in May 2009 after being found guilty of two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity between November 2005 and November 2006.

He also pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of taking indecent photographs of a child during the same period.

During a trial, the jury heard how Stone bought underwear for a young girl and asked her to pose in it, taking photographs on his mobile phone.

The victim also told the court that she thought she was going to be raped after Stone approached her, before touching her and trying to pull down her jeans.

Stone was sentenced to concurrent terms of 30 months, 20 months, 12 months and six months for the offences.

He was also registered as a sex offender, banned from working with children and given a sexual offences prevention order which means he cannot be in the company of under 16s unsupervised or make contact with under 16s without approval from their parent or guardian.

Stone served half the sentence in prison and was arrested on June 28 this year after being seen in a car with two under 16s.

He appeared at Caerphilly Magistrates’ Court on June 30, where he admitted breaching the sexual offences prevention order. The matter was referred to Cardiff Crown Court, where Stone appeared yesterday.

Judge Philip Richards remanded the defendant in custody until he is sentenced on August 19.
