MORE than 2,000 people flocked to Raglan Castle for its first medieval festival the weekend.
The two-day event took visitors back to the medieval era as they watched jesters, actors and fire-eaters.
The Knights of Longshank provided an historical interpretation of events and performed combat re-enactments.
There were craft stalls, a medieval mistress weaving spells and lucky charms and The Templars Tavern which sold fruit wines, mead and ciders.
Other attractions included a stand selling sheep milk ice cream and Welsh candy fleece.
Custodian, Jane Mciliquham said the event was a fantastic success and she hopes to hold a similar event next year. “The Knights of Longshank were among the highlights to the festival which drew more than 1,000 visitors on each day,” said Ms Mciliquham.
“Visitors were able to learn from a blacksmith about his trade and were able to see ladies embroidering, whilst the children were spellbound by the demonstrations and jesters.”
