BUDDING actors are being sought to take part in a short play written in the memory of a Cwmbran man.
David Williams of Cardiff, has written the 20-minute play titled ‘Linesman for the County’ which is based on Newport County during the 1980/81 season when the team was managed by Len Ashurst.
The play is written in memory of his friend Robert Reed, a Newport County fan, who died after suffering from a brain aneurism around ten years ago.
Mr Williams, a former drama teacher who worked in London before doing supply teaching in Newport schools including Duffryn and Hartridge High, said: “I wanted to dedicate this latest play to Robert.”
Mr Williams, who suffers from bipolar disorder, set up the Red Button Theatre Company in Cardiff in 2005 which provides local community drama workshops.
He said: “The company aims to provide a voice to the underdog in society.”
He is now looking for three people who would like to act out the play in a local pub or club as a charity fundraiser for a mental health charity such as MIND.
