THIS car was left balancing precariously at the top of a steep valley yesterday after crashing into a fence between Swffryd and Llanhilleth.
Emergency services were called to the accident on the B4471, near St Andrews Terrace, at around 11.30am after a car collided with railings and become impaled on top of the fence.
Railings could be seen coming through the windscreen of the car, and the vehicle was just metres from the edge of a steep drop.
The ambulance service said a man in his 20s was taken to Newport’s Royal Gwent Hospital, although a spokesman could not confirm the nature of his injuries. It is believed he suffered whiplash injuries.
The fire service also went to the incident, where crews used hydraulic equipment to help to remove the car from the railings.
