THE organisers of a nine-day music festival in Monmouth are marking its 30th anniversary by asking local people to share their memories of the event over the years.

The Monmouth Music Festival, which takes place in August, has become one of the biggest annual events in the town and one of the biggest free festivals in Europe.

Each year thousands gather to listen to local and national musicians, including Goldie Lookin’ Chain, Dr And the Medics and Mungo Jerry, play music ranging from rock to classical, pop, folk and jazz.

Festival chairman Les Modget said: “For our 30th year, we want to involve festival fans from far and wide to celebrate its history and stories about the famous names who’ve visited here and the things that have happened behind the scenes.”

Mr Modget wants festival goers who have stories, photos and memories of attending the event to get in touch.

The festival takes place between August 17 and 25. To share your stories visit www.monmouthfestival.co.uk
