STUDENTS at the University of Wales, Newport, got some expert tips and advice from Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens.
Mr Stephens visited the students on the creative sounds and music course for a workshop and question and answer session.
As well as getting in the sound studio with the students, Cardiff-born Mr Stephens was able to offer the group some pearls of wisdom about the music industry during his afternoon at the university’s city campus.
Mr Stephens said: “Hopefully my advice will be useful and interesting. I always used to come to Newport for gigs and it seems like the music scene is healthy at the moment.
“There’s a lot of interesting dub-step and hip-hop being made in Newport and a lot of bands starting to break out as well.
“I’m sure courses like the ones here at Newport Uni that I’ve seen today and the facilities here help to encourage and nurture that, which is really important”
