A TORFAEN-BASED Welsh centre will deliver teachers’ lessons.
The Gwent Welsh for Adults Centre, at Coleg Gwent’s Pontypool campus, was selected by the Welsh Government to deliver intensive Welsh courses for primary school teachers.
The course aims to develop primary teachers’ Welsh-language skills to Welsh for Adults Foundation Level, with the long-term aim of teaching Welsh or through the medium of Welsh, contributing to bilingualism in schools.
Director for the Gwent Welsh for Adults Centre Geraint Wilson-Price said: “The course concentrates on immersing practitioners in the language in order to nurture their skills quickly.”
The programme is open to all current full- or part-time teachers in an English-medium or bilingual primary school who already have a basic level of Welsh. The first course starts on April 23. For details call 01495 333710.
