JURY members in the trial of three men accused of killing Newport father Tony Singh heard from a mobile phone analysis expert yesterday.

Karl Drummond, 37, of Attlee Court, Shahid Rafiq, 37, of Bryn-yr-Ysgol and George Glover, 40, of Graham Court, all in Caerphilly, deny murdering and conspiring to rob 24-year-old Mr Singh on November 11, 2010.

Duncan Brown, who is an expert witness in cell site analysis relating to the use of mobile phones, gave evidence at Cardiff Crown Court yesterday.

Junior prosecutor Leighton Hughes asked him what he had found relating to the use of phones belonging to the defendants and Mr Singh.

Mr Brown told the jury Rafiq had called Mr Singh on the afternoon of November 11 and left a voicemail at 7.18pm.

It is alleged by the prosecution the attack on Mr Singh happened at around 7.50pm, during which his mobile phone was taken.

Mr Brown told the court that at 8.02pm Mr Singh’s phone was picked up by a transmitter on the western edge of Newport and later that evening in the Caerphilly area and at Cardiff Gate Services.

Earlier yesterday the jury was shown CCTV from Clytha Park Road, Newport, which the prosecution says showed Drummond and Rafiq on foot.
