A FORENSIC scientist told a jury yesterday there was no indication a Newport father had been attacked in his own home.

Lindsay Lennen was giving evidence at the trial of Karl Drummond, 37, of Attlee Court, Shahid Rafiq, 37, of Bryn-yr-ysgol, and George Glover, 40, of Graham Court, all of Caerphilly.

All three deny murdering and conspiring to rob Tony Singh, 24, on November 11, 2010. Mr Singh’s body was found at his Bryngwyn Road home on November 15, 2010.

Miss Lennen visited Mr Singh’s home on December 17, 2010 to investigate b l o o d stains in the flat.

She told the jury a b l o o d - s t a i n e d hat was f o u n d near the door and smeared blood was found on the door.

Diluted blood was found on the kitchen sink and drips and smears of blood were on the mattress in the bedroom.

A heavy blood stain was found on the bed frame towards the head of the bed near vomit which Miss Lennen said was associated with heavy bleeding.

Although Miss Lennen couldn’t say who the blood had come from or when it had been deposited, she said due to no trails of drips of blood in the flat, it was unlikely Mr Singh had been wandering around the flat.

When prosecuting barrister Paul Lewis QC asked her if the type of blood stains indicated Mr Singh had been assaulted in his flat, Miss Lennen replied: “ There is no indication of that at all.”
