PUPILS at a Newport school turned a critical eye to films as part of a different approach to teaching.
Youngsters at Duffryn High School got a visit from Welsh writer and critic Dylan Moore this week.
Prior to Mr Moore’s arrival, the pupils watched three films; Anger Management, Pan’s Labyrinth and Memento. Then, along with Mr Moore, they reviewed the films to help improve their reading and writing skills.
This was the first in a series of similar workshops across Wales, organised by educational charity FILMCLUB, in conjunction with Literature Wales.
Mr Moore is a former English teacher at Caerleon Comprehensive School who, in 2009, co-founded quarterly journal The Raconteur, which became a biannual paperback in late 2011. He has worked as a critic for National Theatre Wales and Wales Arts International.
