THIS Valleys boy could be the best Pokemon video game player in the world - and he’s off to Hawaii to try and prove it.
Nine-year-old Keilan Urch, of Swffryd, will fly out to Waikoloa, Hawaii, in August to compete in the junior division of the 2012 Pokemon video game world championships.
This is after he came third in the junior division of the national championships, held in Birmingham earlier this month.
The Swffryd Primary pupil entered the national championships last year and although unsuccessful, told his dad Steve Urch, 36, he would return this year and would get a medal.
Sticking to his word, Keilan, who has a two-year-old sister Imogen, did just that, gaining the bronze medal after competing in five rounds plus a final, beating off around 200 other children.
Keilan had to play Pokemon games against his rivals using a Nintendo DS.
Keilan, who has been a fan of Pokemon for the past couple of years, will fly out with Mr Urch to compete in the tournament, which takes place from August 10 until August 12.
Keilan will battle against junior players from all over the world competing for prizes including holidays, trophies and special Pokemon prize packages.
Mr Urch said: "He has done amazingly well. He was so determined. It is like a dream come true for him."
Keilan, who as well as owning around seven of the Pokemon video games, has toys, figures and trading cards, plays on his DS two or three times a week for about an hour each time.
