DJ DANE Bowers is the latest celebrity to add his name to the guest list for a charity dinner in Newport next week.

The singer, who found fame with Another Level in the 1990s, will be performing at the Gareth Thomas Foundation dinner at the Celtic Manor Resort on July 14.

Bowers, who recently appeared in Celebrity Big Brother, will perform Freak Me which was a number one for Another Level and Out of Your Mind which was a duet with Victoria Beckham.

BBC Wales presenter Lucy Owen and her husband Rhodri Owen from the show X-Ray will also be attending the charity dinner along with Scrum V presenter Lisa Rogers.

The foundation's president Gareth 'Alfie' Thomas said: "It’s fantastic that Dane is coming along to perform at the dinner as music is a key part of the charity and he is passionate about what he does.

“I’m also delighted that Lucy, Rhodri and Lisa are supporting the event which means so much to me. It’s now only days away and the excitement is really building.

“I’m sure it will be a great night that will hopefully raise lots of money to help young people and I would urge everyone who has not yet bought a ticket to grab one quickly."

The Argus has already revealed how Oscar-nominated actor Mickey Rourke, Newbridge World Champion boxer Joe Calzaghe, rugby stars Martyn Williams and Tom Shanklin, presenter Gethin Jones and actor Tom Ellis will be at the dinner.

There will also be support from Mr Thomas' Celebrity Big Brother housemates Natalie Cassidy, Frankie Cocozza, Nicola McLean, Kirk Norcross and Natasha Giggs.

The charity was set up by Newport businessmen Daniel O’Connell and Clayton Richards to bring access to music and sport to disadvantaged youngsters.

It aims to provide free music tuition and sports coaching as well as providing access to instruments and equipment.

There are still a few tables available.

Tickets cost £100 for each ticket and are available from alfiecharitynight.co.uk or by calling Mr O'Connell on 01633 246179.
