There have been some adverse comments in the press and elsewhere regarding the lack of street decoration in Chepstow to mark the occasion of the Jubilee.

Decorations are now in place for Chepstow Festival which is always a creditable event.

The festival will bring in visitors who will enjoy the various events, but what else will they find? There is a bus station without toilet facilities. This has been an ongoing farce for 12 years. The Post Office must be the only one in the United Kingdom without a post box.

The local town bus service is second to none for a place the size of Chepstow, but recently two of the three vehicles required to run the operation have been replaced by antiquated buses.

Looking further ahead, traffic problems are looming with additional houses being built at Lydney and further constructions at Chepstow which will mean extra traffic on the A48 through the town. The obvious solution is the place needs a bypass The point about this is does anybody in local authority care?

Get with it, Chepstow!
