A CHEPSTOW catering business's owner claims its future is under threat after the Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel’s owner went into administration.

One Call Caterer has provided hog roasts at the popular Usk wedding venue for five years. Owner Simon Williams claims he is owed £6,000 but says he was told by the hotel's administrator Zolfo Cooper that his firm will not now get the money because its claim is deemed "unsecured".

In a further blow to the small family-run business, the venue, which remains open while administrators are attempting to sell it, will not use cutlery provided by One Call Caterer as it has done previously.

One Call provided around 1,800 pieces of cutlery in a deal worth around £2,000 a month, which the firm has now lost.

Mr Williams said:"It seems the little guy is bearing the brunt of this and our wages are lost. We are struggling now, I’m at a low ebb and the business may not survive as it was quite a big contract."

We reported last month how the hotel’s owner Lester Hotels (Usk) Limited went into administration, with Zolfo Cooper now running it.

Joint administrator Fraser Guy told us that administration was the only option and all possible options will be explored for the 45-bedroom hotel which also has a spa, gym and pool.

Mr Williams runs his company with wife Rhian and last year turned over £140,000 after a successful year working at the Cwrt Bleddyn and other locations such as the Celtic Manor.

However, the current loss of business means he is uncertain about the future of a firm he built up from scratch after a successful career working as a chef.

But, he vowed to continue working at the Cwrt Bleddyn, supplying catering for weddings booked for August and September.

He said: "We won’t let any newly-weds down, we’re not cut-throat."

A spokeswoman for Zolfo Cooper said that the monies owed to One Call relate to goods and services provided before they were appointed as administrators and rank as an "unsecured claim" against the company.

The spokeswoman added: "The Company is unable to pay unsecured creditors at this stage and will only be able to do so if sufficient monies are realised from the sale of the Hotel."

But, she did say that One Call will be paid in full for goods or services given during the administration period.
