A NEWPORT teenager, planning a charity expedition in Australia, donned her pyjamas for a sponsored walk with family and friends.
Paige Hannan, 17, of Duffryn, organised the walk which saw 18 people, some dressed in their nightwear, take on the five mile walk around Newport.
The teenager is aiming to raise £3,000 with half of the money going to the Joshua Foundation which provides holidays and experiences for children suffering from cancer and their families.
The other half of the funds raised by Paige will fund a trip to Australia which she hopes to make with the charity next June.
The trip, known as the ‘Oz experience’, sees the charity take teenagers to Australia to carry out activities including conservation work in poorer areas and a visit to the children’s ward at Melbourne Hospital.
The St Joseph’s High pupil said: "I just thought it would be the experience of a lifetime." Paige’s next event will now be a charity night at Maesglas Sports and Social Club tomorrow which will include a disco, curry, raffle and competitions including a tombola and a guess the weight of the cake.
The event starts at 7pm. Entry prices, which can be paid on the door, are £1 per adult and 50p per child.
