YOUNGSTERS in Machen are enjoying a new £140,000 play area and multi-use ball court.
These have been opened at the village’s Welfare Ground, creating an added dimension to the playing fields there.
The development is the result of a collaboration between Machen Welfare Association and Caerphilly Council, with funding obtained through sources including the council’scommunity regeneration, rural development and community and leisure services budgets.
Caerphilly Council’s cabinet member for community and leisure services, David Poole, said the project was delivered in response to calls from locals.
He said: “Children and young people in Machen have fantastic new facilities to enjoy, where they can play and socialise safely.
