NEWPORT High School saw 86% of students gain an an A level pass with 15% of getting an A*/A or Distinction*/Distinction level.
There will be 19 students going on to University, including Ross Ward who will read Mathematics at Cardiff University after gaining A, A & B grades along with the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification and Bethany Kemp who will read Psychology and Criminology at Anglia Ruskin after gaining A, A & B grades.
Other high achievers include Nicole Cloud who gained 2 x Distinction* grades and a C grade. She will now read Sports Management at Swansea Metropolitan. Alice Courtney gained Distinction, Merit, and 2 C grades as well as the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification. She will now read Education at UWN. Elliott Hardee will read Physics & Mathematics at Cardiff University after gaining A, B & C grades along with the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification.
Head Boy Mathew Paskin gained grades A, B & C and will now read Architecture at Kent University. Head Girl Lauren Johnson, will take up a place at Swansea Metropolitan reading Educational Studies following her success in A levels IT and Art.
Other high achievers include Naomi Edwards who gained an A grade and Distinction in Art and IT respectively. Emily Merry gained A, B and C grades and will progress to Glamorgan University where she will read Psychology. Cerys Francis achieved a Distinction, C grade & the Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification and will now study Early Year Development at Glamorgan. Lauren Hale gained 3 B grades and will read English at Swansea University. Laura Thompson also gained 3 B grades.
