A NEWPORT football club chairman spoke of his anger after a metal pitch barrier and two dugouts, worth around £2,000, were stolen from the pitch side.

Dino Gulotta, who chairs the Villa Dino Christchurch football club, said a metal barrier running the length of the football pitch used by the club at Glebelands had been stolen along with the dugouts.

The items are believed to have been taken some time between 8pm on August 14 and 4pm on August 15.

The barrier runs the whole way around the pitch but Mr Gulotta said only one side had been taken.

He said: "It is probably going to cost around £2,000 to replace. I am angry as we work hard to do what we do."

The club has 50 members in its senior teams and about 270 children in its junior teams.

A Gwent police spokeswoman said police received a call reporting the incident at 4.05pm on August 15. The incident is under investigation.

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101.
