FORMER Welsh Secretary, Peter Hain, has met the Prime Minister to discuss the possible creation of the Severn Barrage.
The much talked about project would see a barrage created from Lavernock Point south of Cardiff, to Weston-Super-Mare which those championing the project say will generate around 5% of Britain’s total electricity needs.
Mr Hain, who resigned as Shadow Welsh Secretary to promote the project, is said to have met the PM at the end of July and that Mr Cameron "asked a lot of detail" about the proposed £30billion project.
Wildlife groups, including the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds(RSPB), are against the project over fears it could damage the birds' habitat.
