A CWMBRAN mum has organised a walk in memory of children lost through miscarriage or stillbirth.

Cwmbran Walk to Remember, which takes place at Cwmbran Boating Lake on Sunday, has been organised by Lane Lippiatt.

The walk around the lake is for any parents, not just from Cwmbran, who have suffered miscarriages or stillbirths.

Names will be read out in memory of those children who have died and balloons will be released at the end of the walk.

The walk is now in its third year and was organised by Mrs Lippiatt to raise money and awareness.

Mrs Lippiatt, 37, is a mum to sons George, 13, and Daniel, four, but has lost four children to stillbirth and miscarriage.

Mrs Lippiatt became pregnant in 1998 but baby Evan was stillborn at 23 weeks and six days into the pregnancy and doctors did not know why.

She said she and husband Ian decided to extend the family when George was three but lost a baby early at six weeks.

Mrs Lippiatt became pregnant again in 2003 but was told at a 19 week scan that the baby, named Adam, had died.

They decided to try again but at 18 weeks staff told the couple that baby Ryan had died.

Mrs Lippiatt was later told she had a factor S deficiency, which is a blood clotting issue, and was given dissolvable aspirin to thin the blood in the lead up to Daniel's birth.

Mrs Lippiatt said: "I'm 14 years down the line in my grief and it's something you never get over. There's so many people out there that think they're on their own and they may just want to do this one thing.

"To have the support and know you're not on your own can sometimes make the difference." The money raised from the walk together with other fundraising during the year has helped to provide more than £2,500 worth of equipment such as cameras and printers for Royal Gwent and Nevill Hall hospitals.

A cold cot was also recently donated to Nevill Hall Hospital and people have donated knitted hats and blankets for parents to use.

Cwmbran Walk to Remember starts at 4pm and is free to take part.

Donations are welcome and charms and baby loss ribbons will be on sale.

Candles will also be given out for people to use the following day as part of international baby loss awareness day.
