London Welsh’s Nathan Vella, Koree Britton, Matthew Dobson and Paul Rowley felt the need for speed when they joined club sponsor Chepstow-based SD Sealants at Silverstone.
The players gave up their day off to join SD Sealants’ race team, Kevin Mills Racing, for pre-season testing ahead of the Radical Sprint Challenge Series.
The players were whisked around the full Silverstone F1 circuit by the team’s principle driver Scott Malvern and SD Sealants owner Nick Jones. The brand new SR3 RS reached speeds of more than 150mph on the straights and 130mph on the corners, even when the passenger was a 17st forward.
Matthew Dobson said: "That was incredible. Never have I felt speed like that, it was unreal. Nick has been fantastic to let us come down and be passengers in this superb car and race around this historic circuit. The boys and I loved every minute of it."
The Radical Sprint challenge Series gets underway at Snetterton on March 28 .
