A South Wales-based advisory firm has been recognised as one of the country’s top performing charity auditors in a leading UK industry survey.

Broomfield and Alexander, which has an office in Newport, was highlighted for ‘special mention’ in Charity Finance’s annual survey of more than 800 charities, ranking the it joint second for overall service and joint third for charity expertise, for firms that received 30 or more responses. In total, 36 of the firm’s charity clients responded to the survey.

Headquartered in Cardiff, with offices in Swansea, Newport and Monmouth, Broomfield and Alexander has been providing accountancy and professional advisory services to individuals and businesses for more than 100 years.

When asked to rank the satisfaction of their auditor as good, average or poor, all 36 respondents for Broomfield and Alexander rated the firm’s charity expertise as ‘good’, while 85 per cent rated as ‘good’ the firm’s corporate social responsibility. Meanwhile, some 97 per cent of those responding said that the firm’s overall service was ‘good’. On all three categories, no charity rated the firm as ‘poor’.

UK-wide, the survey reported that the charity sector accounted for £27.5bn worth of income in the past year, with audit fees totaling £26.9m.
