GWENT charity St David’s Hospice Care will be even more visible throughout the community it serves after getting the keys of a new vibrant red Ford delivery van.

Gwent-based the Mon Motors Group marked ten years support for the Newport-based charity by delivering the Transit Connect van.

Mon Motors, one of the largest automotive dealerships in South Wales and the South West of England with Ford, Audi, VW, Skoda, Seat and Motability in its stable, has supplied a delivery van free of charge to the charity since 2007.

The new van, the latest in a long line of vehicles loaned to St David’s Hospice Care, will be used to ferry donated goods between the charity’s 38 stores throughout Gwent and South Powys.

Glyn Dorking, of Mon Motors, said: “We’re delighted to be able to continue to show our support for St David’s Hospice Care by donating a van for the charity to carry out the valuable work that they do throughout the year in our community.”

Jenny Channing, who manages St David’s Hospice Care charity shops and drives the van some 2,000 miles every month, said: “The vehicle is crucial to the work that I do driving between our stores in Brecon, Abergavenny, Ebbw Vale, Risca, Chepstow Caerphilly and everywhere in between.

“Mon Motors have been wonderful supporters of St David’s Hospice Care and this latest vehicle, in bright cherry red, marks the tenth year of their support. The van helps promote the charity as I drive around the area. People won’t have any problem spotting me in future in this wonderful new vehicle.”

Emma Saysell, chief executive of St David’s Hospice Care, said: “This is an incredible generous gesture from Mon Motors which has lasted for an incredible ten years. The van is very valuable to us in helping to get stock to our shops, in getting us noticed in the community and it also saves us a considerable amount of money which can be spent delivering vital services to patients throughout our community 24 hours a day, seven days week, 365 days a year.”
