Gwent landlords will be advised on protecting their portfolio at the next Gwent Landlord Forum, on Tuesday, May 29 at the Parkway Hotel, Cwmbran.

The free event, sponsored by Rubin Lewis O’Brien and Green & Co Accountants and Tax Advisors aims to educate landlords from across Newport and Gwent.

The speakers for this event will be Joe Lane, from GPS Financial, and Damian Lines, TEP from Rubin Lewis O’Brien.

Mr Lane, who is a specialist mortgage broker for Cardiff-based GPS, will provide an overview on the options open to landlords using limited companies as well as information on early repayment charges and requirements on HMO transactions.

Mr Lines, partner and head of wills, trusts and probate at the Cwmbran-based law firm, will be discussing the plans people need to put in place to protect themselves and their families when it comes to loss of mental capacity.

Managing partner at Rubin Lewis O’Brien, Sam George, said: “This forum affords us another chance to educate landlords from across the area on issues that may affect their ability to run a business and a successful portfolio.

“With an increase in those suffering from illnesses like dementia, it is becoming more and more important to put plans in place to avoid some of the more traumatic alternatives when the unexpected happens. Damian is an expert in this field and will give all attendees a whistle-stop tour of what options they have to deal with these possible scenarios.”

Ed Gooderham, director of Green & Co Accountants and Tax Advisors, said: “Our forum is always well-attended with plenty of questions asked of our speakers. With two high-quality experts delivering informative talks that will resonate with our attendees, I see this forum being another huge success.”

The event starts at 5.45pm and is due to finish by 8.30pm.
