Newport-based Monmouthshire Building Society has appointed a new business development manager for the Welsh Border counties and south west of England.

Michael joins the society, which was named Large Business of the Year at the South Wales Argus Business Awards 2019, from the Bank of Ireland where he was a business development manager for just over four years.

Prior to this, he worked in commercial insurance and has also worked as a mortgage broker.

In his new role Michael will report into key account manager Caroline Barrett.

He will be responsible for developing new and existing broker relationships, providing solutions for brokers and their clients, and ensuring brokers receive a supportive and positive experience with the Society.

He relishes the opportunity to make an impact in an organisation that puts members at the heart of its business and is looking to utilise his previous experience to bring something new to the broker market.

Caroline Barrett said: “I’m delighted to announce that we’ve expanded our broker support team. The quality of our team is growing and with the society’s appointment of this role I’m sure brokers from the Welsh border counties and south west of England will benefit. Michael brings a wealth of experience and understands the needs of our brokers and what we can do as a lender to deliver solutions to this market.

"The appointment of this new role shows our commitment to provide outstanding service and support to our Brokers. I wish Michael the best of luck in this new role.”
