Newport-based financial firm Niche dontated more than £20,000 to charity in 2020

The donations were in the form of advertising space on Niche's new advertising screen which overlooks the M4 at the Brynglas Tunnels.

And now the firm plans to double its efforts and help support local businesses through these challenging times.

With the pandemic putting a halt to many fundraising events, charities have been forced to postpone projects which sought to raise vital funds.

Because of this, the firm of chartered financial planners made it their mission to help support as many charities and good causes as possible with their advertising screen.

Last year, the company installed a 32sqm digital billboard on the side of its office and wanted to use it to help shout about the good charities do, and promote virtual fundraising events which were taking place.

Since then, many charities have used the digital billboard to advertise different campaigns, including the Sparkle Appeal and St David’s Hospice Care, as well as companies such as Tiny Rebel for its Community Christmas dinner initiative.

This was all at no expense to the charities, as all advertising inventory was supplied at Niche’s cost. Between August and the end of the year, Niche donated more than £20,000 worth of advertising space to charity/good causes.

However, Niche recognised charities were not the only ones who have felt the effects of the pandemic. Local businesses have also taken a hit, so their aim for this year is to help support them too.

Joseph Williams, marketing director at Niche, said: “We're very fortunate to have this incredibly unique location overlooking the M4 next to the Brynglas Tunnels, which allows us to use our digital billboard as a platform to really showcase our local area. We would therefore like to offer our support to all the amazing local businesses by inviting them to advertise on our digital billboard for a special rate during this challenging time.”

According to the Department for Transport, nearly 3.3 million vehicles pass the digital billboard every month, making it one of the highest reaching digital billboards in the country. To find out more, visit brynglastunnels.co.uk.
