New regulations have been introduced for an NHS Covid pass scheme in Wales.

This means from October 11, everyone over 18 in Wales will be required to show a Covid Pass to attend certain events or venues.

These decisions are not taken lightly.

There are fewer restrictions now than at any other time during the pandemic.

However, Covid-19 is still very much here.

The Covid Pass is one of the measures that can help, along with the vaccine, and our test, trace and protect scheme.

The aim of the Covid Pass is not to make it harder for people to access venues and events, but to give people the confidence to attend them, knowing everyone attending will either have had a very recent negative test result or full vaccination (or both).

If you are planning to attend venues and events which require a Covid Pass, you can find more information here: https://gov.wales/nhs-covid-pass-prove-your-vaccination-status.

It is clear that recent events in Afghanistan will have brought back difficult feelings for those who have served, and their families.

In our city, we are fortunate to have groups like Newport Veterans Hub and Newport Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club, who do some incredible work to support both current and former armed forces members.

If you’re a veteran or serving member or you know anyone who would be interested, email: info@newportveteranshub.org.uk, or you’ll find the Breakfast Club on Facebook.
