A MASSIVE Gavin and Stacey fan is pinching himself after being selected to play Ruth Jones’ son in a new comedy.
Justin Davies, 14, of Jubilee Road, Six Bells, will play Ben in Sky TV drama Stella which depicts Valleys life.
The Brynmawr Foundation School pupil watched every episode of hit comedy Gavin and Stacey and Ruth Jones’ character, Nessa, was one of his favourites.
He said: "I’m over the moon and I’ve been pinching myself. It will be gutting being away from my friends and favourite lessons for filming, but I'm really excited."
Justin, who lives with mother Helen and brother Joseph, two, will start filming later this month until August. During that time, he will have a tutor and only attend school on his one day off from filming a week. His drama teacher, Natalie Jones, said he "stands out in lessons" and is a "very natural actor".
The youngster was spotted when the BBC visited his school during filming of the ‘It’s My Shout’ series and he was selected for the lead role in short film Be a Man.
He attended a number of auditions and has so far only briefly met Ruth Jones, who wrote Stella.
Filming begins on February 28 and the series is due to be aired on Sky One in 2012.
