I NOTE that the Chief Executive Officer of Barclays bank has said he will forego £1m of his bonus this year.

This bonus could have been worth, to him, around £2.75m in total. On the same news on Saturday there was a single mother from Cornwall, not a very young person, who was in tears because she will be expected to pay £200 council tax under new government regulations, and she just does not know where the money is to come from. We must now add to this the forthcoming ‘bedroom tax’, which will, according to some reports, make many people homeless. Meanwhile, this same Prime Minister is giving money away by the BILLION in foreign aid; I do not think anyone in Britain objects to giving aid where it is needed, but £800 million to India, who have their own space and nuclear programmes? And this is just one of many. Is this part of David Cameron’s much vaunted Big Society? and “We are all in it together?” If we are all in it together, as Cameron says, then some of us are “in it” far deeper than others.
