HOW many Torfaen residents know the whereabouts of Llantarnam Grange, Cwmbran? Many people say ‘Where is that?’, or mistake it for Llantarnam Abbey, or Llanfrechfa Grange (Hospital). It is shameful that such a delightful venue, right in the centre of Cwmbran town centre, should not be recognised by the whole population.
Apart from being a wonderful gallery for the display of work by artists and craftspeople, there are facilities for workshops and meetings, a shop for delightful, unique gifts, and the most wonderful, small cafe, with particularly famous soups and baking. A group of us strongly petition for renewed serious consideration to be given to the question of a simple lift being installed at Llantarnam Grange.
We also know that a considerable number of the public have been limited in their use of ‘The Grange’, because of the stairs. Surely, many groups must have the same problems of limitation?
If necessary, could not a grant be applied for, or indeed, a major, well publicised fundraising exercise?
