WHEN is someone from the city council or traffic authorities going to take a look at the little opening to the right of the traffic lights on the Pill side of the George Street Bridge, it is an accident waiting to happen.

Three things happen when vehicles turn right there:

Vehicles have to slow down to negotiate the tight turn, so holding up traffic behind, causing a few drivers to miss the lights; then: If vehicles coming from the old Motorwell petrol station direction are queuing to enter Lower Dock Street, by George Street Warehouse, it sees vehicles using the opening left stranded in the road at the entrance to the bridge, which holds up traffic coming from George Street: Thirdly, on a few occasions, some vehicles in their haste to get through the opening have almost collided with me and others who have used the ‘legal’ turn, like today, a white van almost knocked a motorcyclist off his bike coming the other way trying to get in front of me. I think there should be a no entry sign there; it only takes a few seconds more to take the turn just ahead, and could save a life or serious injury.
