AS A former resident of Blaenau Gwent, I don’t share Geoff Waggett’s disappointment at the delay in the planning process with reference to the proposed ‘Circuit of Wales’ at Ebbw Vale. (Argus, 1st July).

Perhaps it’s because I’m not such a motor-racing enthusiast as the vicar.
A report on the scheme has identified five aspects which could be affected by the current proposals, including landscape and visual, loss of habitat, and impact upon protected species. We’re all very keen to attract jobs but not at any cost.
I don’t seem to have read anything about how often the facility is likely to be used, and whether the planners have voiced concerns about the ‘loss of amenity’ in the form of noise nuisance which is likely to carry for many miles over a built-up area.
