ONCE again I offer a ‘well done’, to the department/s responsible for the gladdening sight of wild flower display on the road verges in the Shaftesbury area of the city.
Although only lasting a few months, this show of colour goes a long way in offsetting the appalling sight that greets drivers coming into the centre under the fly-over at Crindau. Road support pillars covered in graffiti and months old layers of grimy fly posters. Couple this with the pedestrian subways at the Old Green, it is hardly a pleasant introduction to our city.
Unlike the flowers these conditions are with us 365 days of the year. The talk is constantly about improvement and development, but how about getting the basics right in making the city clean and attractive to visit.
