IT IS typical of the arrogance of our present prime minister that, despite a hundred years (plus) of colonial rule, our leader still has a lack of understanding of the social structure of the countries that we hope to do business with.


David Cameron takes a large trade delegation to one of the richest, modern and beautiful countries in Asia, in the hope of sealing trade deals, and immediately totally upsets the Almaty-cart by telling them how to run their country and to be nice and considerate to those who would seek to undermine their way of life. What an example we are.
It is a safe bet that they don’t have to build more jails because the present ones are full due to a high percentage of foreign prisoners that they are unable to get rid of because someone else says they can’t.
Those of us who have been around a bit (obviously not Dave), know that in many of these countries human rights are the bits that are chopped off when one is caught stealing and left with only a left, right?
