AS one crosses the Severn Bridge, one wonders if the signs should read Welcome to Wales, the Home of the Body Snatchers!

It was alarming to say the least, to hear the word “harvesting” used in reference to the collection of body parts under the new legislation from the Assembly.
I wish someone would challenge this in the High Courts as I firmly believe it is illegal. It is certainly not ethical to assume that the deceased would allow the use of their organs, without their express permission. Why is it our responsibility to opt out?
The Assembly do not have rights on our bodies, at least if they insist that they have, let them pay our funeral costs. This really smacks of Big Brother, and the totalitarian state. In addition, when the corrupt come out of their seedy closet, as they inevitably do, will it be the case of identifying who has the required working parts in return for a handsome back hander? How easy for a less than ethical individual to strike up a deal with the wealthy who might require a transplant.
How will the sick and infirm ever know if they are being primed for any early demise in order to fulfil the demands of those who can pay the ultimate price for the ultimate sacrifice? This whole shabby legislation needs to be rethought; once again people’s lives have become the play thing of the thoughtless politician.
