VERY interesting letter from Ann Barton about Johnny Basham’s tombstone but surprised to read that Dick Richardson and Henry Cooper were involved.
The money for the headstone was raised by a boxing tournament between Heidenheim and Newport boxers at the Newport Centre in August 1987 organised by County Councillor Dick Murray and a local sportsman committee.
Dick Richardson did do a lot of work raising money for children’s charities.
