Many thanks ON BEHALF of my voluntary trustees and myself, we the volunteers now for over 16 years of the Bettws Environmental Educational Community Charity Association would like to express our gratitude to all turned up for the Annual Memorial Peace and Reconciliation Service for 9/11.

More than 250 attended. I wish to thank our mayor, Cllr Cliff Suller and the mayoress, the Lieutenant Colonel of the volunteers of the Royal Artillery at Raglan Barracks, all the members of the comrades, Dave Jones the bugler, the standard bearers under Phil Taylor, all servicemen, the police, fire brigade members and the public of Bettws.

Particular thanks to the headteachers and staff of Newport High School, Millbrook Primary, Monnow Primary and Ysgol Gymraeg Ifor Hoel for their wonderful contribution, led by our Chaplain Canon Henry Davies, towards the breathtaking service. The people of Bettws always show we care, and a personal thanks to our Bettws in Bloom entertainment group who performed a wonderful show in the evening commemorating the war years with an extravaganza of musical songs and sketches which was truly appreciated by an enthusiastic audience.

My trustees are a credit to the city and over 16 years have served Bettws each and every day with enthusiasm, dedication and care for all. They deserve every accolade for all they do and have done and the city deserves to acknowledge their achievements.

Thanks to the Argus for covering all their achievements so brilliantly over the last 16 years with such fairness and help to the Bloom.

Colin Baker Chairman of Bettws in Bloom
