FORMER County manager Len Ashurst’s comment in the South Wales Argus on the 24/04/14, that Conor Washington should not have been sold, is somewhat out of date with the modern view of Newport County fans who realise finances are all-important.
After six home games cancelled, money becomes important, after all, we have some unsung heroes in the team such as Lee Minshull and a whole list of others.
Justin Edinburgh managed the situation brilliantly, so did the board, back room staff and players.
I am a confirmed County fan who remembers the Ashurst reign and what a fantastic time it was, he will always have a special place for County fans.
We need to be realistic, League Two football next season is a triumph for the fans, but financial security means we have a football team in Newport.
Sorry Mr Ashurst, I have to disagree with your comment, and look forward to a financially secure League Two (second season) with a manager (Justin Edinburgh) who can take County to even greater heights.
