THE impending Scottish vote for independence fills me with dread. Should the Scots let their heart rule their head and vote for separation from the UK, it will impact greatly on the rest of the “union”.
David Cameron and his party, whilst outwardly supporting the “no” vote, must be secretly hoping that the Scots do vote “yes”.
As it stands, the Scottish left-wing vote ensures that there is a potential opposition within five years of a government, and I believe it prevents the Tories pursuing a hardline, right-wing agenda.
If the Scots do go their own way, minus their votes we will be left with a permanent right-wing government in the UK. And then with the threat of the Tories being voted out of office being subdued, they will be free to impose all their right-wing policies they would not dare to introduce at the moment.
If Scotland does go, then watch for the outright privatisation of the NHS, something they cannot get away with now.
