ALTHOUGH I sympathise with your husband’s predicament getting a blue badge, (Karen Collier, Argus letters, 28/11),it’s about time this was clamped down on because I bet 80 per cent of people with a blue badge in Wales haven’t a physical disability. They have a badge because of old age.
The criteria for a blue badge (you either can’t walk or are virtually unable to walk) should be applied to all applicants. People reading this, the next time you are out and about, look at the people using the disabled bays getting out of cars with shopping bags and walking around the supermarket doing the shopping. I’ll bet the majority of them are elderly with no physical disability.
I am all for the new rules and don’t see the relevance of spongers regarding a blue badge. If you know someone swinging the lead, you should report them instead of whinging. If you can walk 20 metres, you shouldn’t have a blue badge, and certainly not if you are just elderly.
